Ashley 2007 - So Close!

In the end, it was so close. Just 110 votes out of the 3,322 cast on Thursday 3rd May 2007 were the difference between a new Green voice for the ward, and more of the same old, same old from the Lib Dems.

Ashley Election Results 2007

So, first things first: a massive thank you to every one of you who voted Green. Whether in St Paul’s, St Werburghs, Montpelier or St Andrews, you turned out in enough numbers to give us a fantastic chance of winning at the next elections in 2009.

Labour were relegated into a distant third, leaving us as the only party who can realistically beat the Lib Dems next time.

What next?

Well, it’s clear from the results of our transport survey that unless something’s done soon, things in the city are only going to get worse when it comes to trying to get anywhere.

So our challenge to the three other parties is this: work with us and introduce a Transport Authority for Bristol which would make Ashley’s buses and trains cheaper, cleaner, more frequent and more reliable.

A Transport Authority would create more cycle paths and better, safer pedestrian routes. It would reduce the congestion and parking problems that cause so much difficulty at the moment.

It’s already worked elsewhere. It’s for the good of everyone in the ward. It’s there for the taking. All that’s needed is the will. And the same is true of getting a Green voice for Ashley in 2009!
