BiofuelsDespite serious concerns about the impacts of biofuels in general and vegetable oils like palm oil in particular on the climate, on forests and other ecosystems and on communities in the global South, as well as concerns over air pollution and public health in nearby areas, biofuel power station planning applications are springing up from a number of companies in several parts of the UK, including Bristol. |
Bus Rapid TransitVarious routes and methods have been proposed for Bus Rapid Transit systems in Bristol. The Bristol Green Parties have taken an active interest in the proposals and have generated briefing papers and asked questions in Council. |
Castle ParkCastle Park, in the centre of Bristol, is at risk of development. Bristol City Council supports this proposal. The Castle Park Users' Group was set up with the objective to protect and enhance the park and linked green spaces for the enjoyment and well-being of Bristol's communities and future generations and to make it a welcoming and attractive place that is used and enjoyed by everyone. The Bristol Green Parties support the work of the Castle Park Users' Group and Green Party members are active in its activities. |
Green SpacesThe Green Parties in Bristol oppose the principle of selling of some land to pay for upkeep of the remaining Parks and Green Spaces. |
NHS in BristolThe contracts for two large local hospital developments (Southmead and South Bristol Community hospitals) have been signed. In principle the South Bristol one is good, the Southmead one much less so. But they are both being built with private finance and the Green Party opposes PFI for public services. |
South Bristol Ring RoadThe proposed South Bristol Ring Road has been a long-running campaign and we have plenty of material on it. |
Transport HubThe Bristol Green Parties have proposed that a new "state-of-the-art" Transport Hub is built at Temple Meads. |
