Defra Consultation on Supermarkets
Written by Geoff Collard Thursday, 18 February 2010
The government in the form of Defra (Department of Food and Rural Affairs) is currently consulting on restricting the power of large supermarkets to control prices they pay to farmers. This is good, but unfortunately the consultation doesn't say anything about supermarkets buying up the high street (like Stokes Croft).
But it's still a good opportunity to comment in this vein and make your voice heard. The consultation can be seen and commented on on the Defra website at: http://www.defra.gov.uk/news/latest/2010/food-0113.htm
Read it and see what you think. An ideal opportunity to mention the high street and the megalopoly of the likes of Tesco........(and others).
