Local Elections 2011
This year's local elections to Bristol City Council take place on Thursday May 5th and there are elections in 24 of Bristol's 35 wards. Each ward elects two councillors to seats on the city council. Councillors hold office for 4 years. Only one of the seats in each ward is up for election at a time.
Also on May 5th, everyone can vote on whether to change our voting system to the Alternative Vote (regardless of whether there is a council election in their ward).

The high point in last year's election was Tess Green's success in the Southville ward when Tess easily held the seat first won for the Greens by Charlie Bolton in 2006. Tess increased Charlie's majority by 250 votes, a very good result in a council election. This time Charlie is standing again and hopes to win the second Southville seat for the Greens.
Details of the Green Party candidates and the wards are below. Full results are on the city council website.
