Bristol’s local businesses and producers are under increasing threat from national and international competition.

Supermarkets and chain stores are killing our local shops, suppliers, and the local economy and restricting consumer choice

Our high streets are ever more similar to anywhere else, and frequently shops lie empty. We would use a variety of economic and social measures to promote the rebirth of blighted and neglected high streets. We would make more use of Cumulative Impact Assessment to encourage diversity in our local high streets.

We believe people should be able to buy local products from local shops, so supporting the local economy and local jobs.

In particular ,locally produced food should be readily available and accessible to everyone

Bristol City Council should have clear policies that support our local economy using local contractors and local suppliers where possible.
