A strong community is a safe community

We believe you should have the right to feel safe wherever you live in Bristol. If you feel safer, you will also feel happier and prouder of the area you live in.  We believe this can be achieved through stronger community cohesion.

Greens do not believe that retributive sentencing is effective in reducing crime.  We favour a restorative approach to justice which, while denouncing the crime, deals constructively with the offender and the victim.’ Our primary objective is to restore and, if possible improve the position of the victim and the community, while requiring the offender to make amends.  We will strive to reduce crime by working to reduce the social pressures which lead individuals to commit crimes and fighting to retain funding for integration and youth projects, because we believe that a cohesive community is a safer community.
