Redland
Did you know that Redland is one of the greenest wards in Britain? A study has shown that Redland has more than eight out of ten adults classified as 'enthusiastic greens' - more than five times the national average (see www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/dec/14/environment-carbon-footprint-wealthy-redland).
The Green Party has averaged over 20% of the vote in Redland in recent years and has come second, beating both the Conservatives and Labour. Our candidate for Redland in the local elections last year was Robert Triggs. However, there is no city council election in Redland this year.
Through improving public transport, Greens would help to reduce the appalling traffic congestion in Bristol and the pollution caused by it. Through investing in schools, leisure facilities and public services, Greens would help to improve the quality of life of Bristolians. Through extending recycling, Greens would help to reduce Bristol’s massive ‘ecological footprint’ on the natural environment.
A Green councillor for Redland would fight to improve local transport and to ensure that the Gloucester Road remains an excellent local shopping area.
