I am 57 years old and have lived in East Bristol for over 30 years. I am married with two sons, aged 23 and 25, and my wife is an active member of St John’s Church in Lodge Causeway.

I have been teaching mathematics for nearly 35 years and currently work at Brimsham Green Secondary School in Yate. I am the union representative for ATL at my school so have much experience dealing with issues and negotiating  solutions. I have also managed the examinations in the school for 25 years.

I regularly attend Neighbourhood Partnership meetings and my main interests politically are in Education and Transport. I was a Labour voter for most of my life but joined the Green Party a few years ago as I felt it offered policies that are fairer to all levels of society and offer the prospect of a healthier future for all.

I am a keen cyclist and would like to improve transport in Bristol by making cycling, walking and public transport the best options for getting around and thus encourage people to use their cars less. Unfortunately the showcase route through Fishponds has done little to improve the bus route but has increased congestion and made crossing some roads more dangerous for pedestrians. I use the local bike shop in Lodge Causeway for repairs and parts and like to support the other small shops whenever I can. I also enjoy watching sport having been a member of Bristol Rugby Club in the pre-professional era. I am a lifelong York City supporter but brought my sons up to support their local League club, Bristol Rovers. I am fascinated by the history of the area I live in and have belonged to Fishponds Local History Society for 27 years. This has helped give me an insight into the rich heritage of Bristol and , in particular, Fishponds and I want to do my part to enrich life in the community.
