Letters > Voting in the general election - Charlie Bolton, 28 February 2005To: Western Daily Press Sir John Crole writes to bemoan the absence of choice in the general election ('A lack of choice spoiling vote', letters 28/2/2005). When it comes to the three main parties, I agree with him. They represent different shades of 'grey'. They have the same economic philosophy. And, certainly, when it comes to Labour and Tory, they seem to be trying to out-Tory each other. I would be delighted if Mr Crole chooses to vote Green. Our policies on strengthening the local economy, opposing the removal of civil liberties, increasing pensions and providing a citizens income to all will strike a chord with many voters. However, more important than that, I would ask him and others to vote positively. Don't get taken in by the scare tactics of the Labour Party - in particular - who base their campaign on 'not letting the Tories in'. Don't vote against what you are against, but vote for what you are for. And if he finds that he isn't for any of the candidates, well Greens too would like to see a 'none of the above' option on ballot papers Charlie Bolton |
