Bishopsworth residents elect two councillors to sit on Bristol City Council. At present both are held by the Conservative minority group. In May 2007 the seat now occupied by Tory leader Richard Eddy comes up for election.

Barrie Lewis Barrie Lewis, a resident of the ward, will be Bristol South Green Party's candidate for the City Council on May 3rd 2007.

As our candidate in 2006, Barrie saw the Green vote show a remarkable rise to over 14% (from under 3% in 2003), well ahead of the Liberal Democrats.

Barrie has represented the Greens in local elections for many years. Recently he has been campaigning energetically against the proposals to build a major Ring Road cutting right through the ward along King Georges Road and Highridge Green - in contrast to the sitting conservative councillor!

Bishopsworth ward covers the area from Bedminster Down through Bishopsworth to Highridge.
