Knowle residents elect two councillors to sit on Bristol City Council. At present, both seats are held by the ruling Liberal Democrat group. One of them comes up for election in May 2007.

[picture of Glenn]Glenn Vowles, a resident of the ward, is Bristol South Green Party's candidate for the Knowle ward in the May 3rd 2007 election.

Glenn has lived in Knowle all his life, has been a member of the Green Party for many years, and is already familiar with the way the council works. He also writes a personal 'blog' which you can take a look at here

Glenn has been active in many local campaigns, for instance in efforts to save the Jubilee Pool, to prevent the replacement of New Oak Primary School with an experiment in sponsored education, and in the clean-up of a vandalised site on Wells Road.

He's also raised a national petition on the 10 Downing Street website. It suggests that the leading measure of national progress, Gross National Product, should be replaced with something that actually reflects peoples satisfaction with their quality of life. The petition is open until 6/3/2008. Please take a look and consider signing it.

In the May 2006 elections our candidate Graham Davey saw the Green share of the vote nearly treble to reach 14%

Knowle ward includes the area with the Broadwalk shops at its centre, bounded by the top of the hill to the north and east, Airport Road to the south, and Newquay Road to the west.
