Your candidate for the May 2006 Local Elections was Martin Harvey.

Martin's first career was in Social Work; 11 years as a practitioner and 15 years as a lecturer followed by early retirement which lead to 7 years’ part time practising and tutoring, during which he trained as an acupuncturist to provide a retirement career.

In 1999 he and his wife moved to Bristol to be active grandparents because their two daughters were already living here and both had small children. He works part time on the counter at the local post office and as a volunteer therapist at St Peter’s Hospice.

A Green Party member for many years, he stood for local elections in Herefordshire before moving to Bishopston. He is a keen supporter of Amnesty International and other human rights campaigns. Leisure interests include Scottish dancing, choral singing, writing and composing. He and his wife have been vegetarians since the 1978 famine in Ethiopia. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
